History of Robotic Surgery at Florida Hospital

Background

Florida Hospital was the first institution in Central Florida to offer the da Vinci® robotic radical prostatectomy in 2004.  The first robotic surgical procedures in Central Florida were performed at Florida Hospital by a team of urologists including Dr. Jeffrey Thill, Dr. Rakesh Patel, Dr. Inoel Rivera, Dr. Ravi Jahagirdar, Dr. Robert Weaver, and Dr. Thomas Cangiano.  The adoption of this highly advanced prostate cancer treatment option demonstrates our commitment to providing patients world-class health care.  Today, Florida Hospital offers robotic prostatectomies, robotic GYN oncology procedures, hysterectomies, robotic colon procedures, with other specialties under development.
