Dr. Vipul Patel Petitions for PSA Screening

Recently, the United State Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) made a final ruling on their recommendation against the most common form of prostate cancer screening, PSA tests. The governmental advisory panel put forth this guideline on prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood tests, which more than 20 million American men receive each year and saves precious lives. Their decision to stop using PSA tests, regardless of age, risk factors and ethnicity, is truly seen as a death sentence by experts in the urological field, as well as by past prostate cancer patients and families to whom it proved invaluable.

Eliminating PSA testing from the healthcare regimen of men will increase the diagnosis of advanced disease (rather than encouraging early detection) and the mortality rate from prostate cancer.

The world’s foremost robotic prostatectomy surgeon and Global Robotics Institute’s leading expert, Dr. Vipul Patel, has partnered with Change.org to promote a petition to demand that the USPSTF reconsider the decision for doctors no longer offer PSA screening for prostate cancer to men. Learn more about the implications of this decision and sign the petition to help save lives.
