What is a GYN Oncologist?

A Gynecologic Oncologist is a highly specialized physician who treats cancers of the woman's reproductive system.  This includes cancer of the uterus, cervix, ovaries, vagina, and the outer skin, called the vulva or perineum.  To become a gynecologic oncologist, a physician must first complete an approved four-year residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology and a 2-4 year clinical fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology.

Unlike other oncologists, many of whom focus on one particular form of therapy, Gynecologic Oncologists perform surgery, give chemotherapy, and participate in radiation therapy.  Meet our team here.
